Considering the fact that 30% of Saudis are living in poverty and starvation, why would the prince of Saudi Arabia choose to spend his money on building the world's tallest building in the city of Jeddah instead of using the billions of dollars to provide better education to permit entry into well-paying jobs etc...?? That is just my question to this insanity. Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, being the business man he is, recently seems to be more concerned with the measurements of his new investment rather than the needing families of his country. On Sunday, his firm the Kingdom Holding Company, stated that the building will be more than 3,281 feet) high and will be part of a larger project that will cost 100 billion dollars. Yes it will include luxury homes, hotels, and offices, but is that really needed right now? Seeing that prince Al-Waleed is a billionaire, I still dont understand how he could afford to plant this enormous building but not use his money to help villages around Saudi that need shelter, food, better education, etc...

Yikes. It's crazy how this leader is so much more concerned about decadence than answering the calls of his people for help. Sadly this scenario is not all that uncommon around the world. Many leaders use their country's wealth in a similiar fashion. Even a small portion of the money this new building will cost would do wonders in helping lift many onto their feet. A tough call, help your people or build a monument to yourself.
