A Clean Approach

Chris Kaufmann from Durango, a holistic practitioner with Southwest Alternative Medical , informs us through an article on chronic illness about ways to treat/prevent celiac disease. Kaufmann is trained in oriental medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy and bio-feedback therapy. His recent mission is presenting ways to better a person's health by choosing foods that are gluten free. Most of us do not realize or consider the fact that when we eat foods with gluten, we are ultimately destroying our small intestine -therefore we are not absorbing the nutrients we need. Gluten basically destroys the tiny tentacles - villi - in the small intestine which help clean up toxins. The reaction varies from person to person - from no symptoms at all, to malnutrition that is suspected to lead to stunted development in children, osteoporosis, colon cancer, Crohn's disease, lupus, thyroid disorders, arthritis, Type 1 diabetes and birth defects. Celiac disease affects one in every 133 people in the United States and one in 22 people who have a parent, sibling or child diagnosed with disease. In conclusion, cleansing the digestive system from an overload of toxins, parasites, infections and poor diet is a good way to better your health. Of course everyone knows to lay off of junk foods like foods that are processed and foods with sugars, but mainly everyone should be aware that even foods that are considered healthy, may have high levels of gluten. By choosing foods that contain no gluten will improve your health and your immune system.
